Panoramafreiheit (Freedom of panorama in Germany):
“Panoramafreiheit, translated literally into English as Freedom of Panorama or Panorama Freedom often abbreviated as FOP, is a provision in the copyright laws of Germany that permits taking pictures or creating other images (such as paintings) of buildings and sculptures which are permanently located in a public place without infringing any copyright that may subsist in such works, and to publish such images. Panoramafreiheit limits the right of the copyright owner to take action for breach of copyright against the photographer or anyone distributing the resultant image. It is an exception to the normal rule that the copyright owner has the exclusive right to authorize the creation and distribution of derivative works.”

That legal standards allows you to upload images of buildings/objects/places without the approval of the owner of an building or object. The precondition is that you are standing on public place while taking the picture (road, sidewalk, nature, …). It´s not allowed to use extra tools (e.g. ladder, telelens, binoculars, …) for taking the image.
It´s essential that the building/artwork is visible from a public place, even if the building itself is located on private property.
Please be aware: Public place in the legal sense does not necessarily mean public place in the common sense! Please make a difference between public property and private property: Read more…

Summer vacation is over now and the kids have to go to school again. For some children it´s the first school day – for the others learning continues as in the previous year.

And when you come across a gem like this the choice isn’t really much of a choice. One of the most popular combos of all time: beer and heart shaped nacklaces?! Cheers!.
